Because there’s more to life than Netflix, right? I’m going to share a few things that help me snap out of my boredom blues…
It’s so simple and yet sometimes it feels difficult to put on those walking boots. But getting out for a twenty minute stroll can do absolute wonders for your mental wellbeing. Trust me. A walk around my neighbourhood clears my head and helps me to suss out things I had previously ruminated on. When I return from walks I’m ready to conquer the day and be my best self.
It doesn’t sound very exciting at first, but treating your wardrobe to some tlc will take up a good portion of your day and you’ll feel better for doing it. Those comfy jeans you forgot about? They made a reappearance! The clothes you’re ready to part with can be donated to a local charity and you’ll be saving on wardrobe space, too.
Are you overdue a coffee date with your mate? It’s time to give them a call. Find a time when you’re both free and treat them to a drink. You get to find out how they are doing, what new discoveries they have made and how they plan to spend the holidays. Bonus plus: They owe you a coffee next time!
Lockdown forced us to think outside the box for things to entertain us. For me, baking was the thing. I NEVER dreamed I’d be buying flour from the supermarket and mixing dough. Before I knew it, I was baking ginger and chocolate chip cookies like nobody's business. When restrictions lifted, I visited a friend for her birthday and brought her a home baked cupcake in her favourite flavour. Not gonna lie - it felt like a mini accomplishment!
Only boring people get bored... so I hear. Sometimes when you think you’re bored, really it’s just that you need to take a step away from the doing of stuff, and accept that doing nothing is actually ok! If sitting on the sofa in silence is proving difficult, try listening to a guided meditation. There’s loads out there, and some are super relaxing. Try this one
So the next time you’re feeling bored out of your mind, I hope you’ll consider some of the above. These are just some things that help me - but hopefully they might inspire you too!
