While we've got some fantastic things in the pipeline including an exciting refurbishment of the bar and a new outdoor space, we want to encourage you to always drink responsibly. April is Alcohol Awareness Month, and while meeting your friends for a few drinks is always fun, it's important to stay safe and know your limits. There are many ways you can reduce the risks associated with alcohol and still have a good time.
Alcohol dehydrates you as it forces you to urinate more often, so drinking water in-between each alcoholic drink really helps to reverse this effect. Becoming dehydrated is dangerous, and if you're having more than a few, making sure you've had plenty of water in-between will prevent a bad hangover.
Did you know: Drinking and driving accounts for an average of 666 deaths per year in the UK, and 3,551 serious injuries as a result of alcohol-related accidents. You might think you're fit to drive, but drinking any alcohol at all puts you in danger of being over the drink and drive limit. Just think to yourself, is it worth the risk?
Lining your stomach is a great way to ensure you've got all the nutrients you need before you start drinking. Drinking on an empty stomach increases the chances of intoxication through the faster absorption of alcohol into the small intenstine and decreases your liver's ability to function as it should.
It is not recommended to regularly exceed 14 units of alcohol per week. This equates to 7 pints of regular lager or around 9 small (125ml) glasses of wine. Drinking too much alcohol can have adverse affects on both your physical and mental health, often leaving you feeling groggy and fatigued. Alcohol can be enjoyed in moderation, so always remember to know your limits and stay safe.
