Elections is one of the most exciting times for us at the union, and for you as Glyndwr students. Why, you ask? Grab a coffee and stick around, because we’re about to tell you…
The Students' Union elections take place every year around the month of March. This is when the President, Vice President and part-time officers are elected.
As a student at Glyndwr, you can stand for election. No experience is necessary and full training and ongoing support is given to all successful candidates. There is also a by-election which takes place every October to fill the vacant positions.
There are 2 paid, full time positions for the President and Vice President roles, and over 10 voluntary, part-time positions covering a variety of different areas. You can check out the full list of positions available here.
Apart from being a fantastic opportunity to launch your future and gain valuable employability skills to aid you along the way, there are a number of additional benefits. Elected full time officers can look forward to free accommodation at Wrexham Glyndwr University and a salary of £18,500. Part-time officers working on a voluntary basis can enjoy flexible working around their studies and will get offered a chance to complete a free extra 20 credit module in Advocacy.
You can apply by nominating yourself here. If you want to find out more about how things work you can access more information here. If you have any further queries, you can contact our Elections expert Marc Caldecott at: marc.caldecott@glyndwr.ac.uk
