Your SU has an array of roles it wants passionate students to fill. These include our Student Trustees, and remaining positions on the Student Council.
But what is in it for you?
Whilst we know and appreciate that Students around the University are very busy during the academic year, we also know of the various benefits getting one of these positions could do for you, and your future career path.
Being on the Student Council will look incredible on any CV and will also help you expand your skill set and most importantly confidence, by taking part in important meetings and representing your fellow students!
It will also give you the opportunity to formulate policy through Council Motions, something that may give you valuable experience for future critical thinking in the workplace.
The position of Student Trustee is arguably less of a workload, and again looks fantastic on your CV. You will be a Trustee of the charity that is the Students Union, and will thus sit on the board of Trustees, representing the students interest. This is an amazing draw to your CV when exiting University life, and entering the workplace. It will show you were not only a committed engaged student, but also can be evidence that you were essentially an exec on the board at the SU!
Both roles will only enhance your university experience and do not add any kind of massive unmanageable workload. Both roles are what you make of them, meaning you will get the freedom to choose how you approach meetings and what policy you pursue.
If you have any questions, please get in contact with me via email at ben.sanders@wrexham.ac.uk or on Teams. Or pop into the SU to see us.
