NUS Wales Conference took place on the 19th and 20th of March this year and was an event to remember!
Your Vice-President, Maisie, attended the event on behalf of the Students’ Union to discuss policy proposals and the potential NUS Reform.
There was also an awards evening which was a night of celebrating all the work that students’ unions do to support their students.
The award was presented to Maisie by the NUS Wales President, Orla Tarn.
Our Student Voice Coordinator, Katie and Membership Project Coordinator, Carrie lead on the Help Yourshelf campaign that provides surplus food to students at Wrexham University. They were very pleased to receive the award back in Wrexham!
In July 2023 we secured £1500 of funding from HEFCW. With this money we were able to make 40 Wellbeing boxes, 100 meal kits, breakfast kits and restock the cupboard significantly! We also made recipe cards for students to make cheap healthy meals.
After a successful Lidl Community Grant bid, we were able to treat our residents staying in Wrexham Student village over the Winter Break. We received 32 requests for an Elf Yourshelf Christmas package! We included ingredients to make a ‘Toad in the Hole’, fruit, vegetables, nuts, snacks, cleaning products and plenty of Christmas treats!
We love supporting students and will continue to deliver campaigns to improve your student experience.
