This year's Movember is especially important in a crisis that is affecting people globally. A tradition that is built around raising awareness for men's health; specifically testicular cancer, prostate cancer and mental health, it is arguably even more meaningful to let your moustaches grow out this month.
Glyn's Mo Bros is not only an event being run on a single day; it is also a campaign for the whole of November to aid in raising awareness for men's health; both mental and physical. Donations received will all go to a local mental health charity and we welcome all staff and students to get involved and #GrowYourMo.
Our Vice President, Chloe Wyn, is running the campaign and encouraging all men who are able to, to take part. We want to see your before and after photos from the start of the month and of course again at the end of the month! Get more involved by getting some sponsors for your Mo-Growing to make an even bigger difference. All sponsors can then be donated to a charity of your choosing, and we want to hear all about your progress!
The official Mo Bros event will be taking place on Thursday the 26th of November, with full details to be released in due course. The event will be COVID-safe while still helping to achieve our goal of raising awareness and aiding charities. Our aim is to make the event as fun and engaging as possible while always putting your safety first.

Movember originated in Melbourne, Australia by two friends; Travis Garone and Luke Slattery. The pair joked about the idea of bringing the moustache trend back into fashion and subsequently convinced their mates to grow their 'Mos'. A friend's mother who was battling breast cancer at the time inspired them to centre the idea on a campaign about men's health and prostate cancer. 10 dollars was charged to each person who wanted to participate, and the Movember logo was inspired by the ribbon associated with breast cancer, but for men.
By 2004, 450 Mo Bros had rasied 54,000 AUD. The first international Mo Bros then adopted the trend in the UK and Spain. Since then, Movember has become an official campaign in 21 countries worldwide, with over 730 million AUD raised to fund over 1,000 men's health programs. While prostate cancer was initially the official focus of the campaign, it has now extended to other issues surrounding men's health such as testicular cancer and mental health. In 2020, we want to do our bit for the cause and make Movember a true moustache medley!
Fancy being one of Glyn's Mo Bros? Give your moustache the chance to live its best life and let that facial hair run free!
