Bra Bank

At the beginning of 2022, we introduced a new scheme where staff and students are encouraged to drop off their preloved or unwanted bras to support Against Breast Cancer’s Campaign. Each year recycling for charity generates thousands of pounds that have been raised by people and organisations wishing to support research into secondary spread, the main cause of breast cancer related deaths. Recycling is a such a simple way to get yourself, your family, school, office, workplace or local community involved. Everyone can do it and we all benefit, we’re saving energy, raw materials and it’s good for the environment, click here to find out more.

What we've been up to...

Welcome Week 2024

It was great to see so many new and returning students during Welcome Week. We kicked off the new academic year in style!

Maisie your Union President was busy over summer collecting donations for Thrifty Business, where students (and staff) rescued clothes, books, home appliances and toiletries from Landfill. It was a busy day with over 150 people attending and making green pledges. . We also used this opportunity to showcase our Help Yourshelf and Period Dignity Campaigns giving students free snack packs and TOTM sample packs.

We were also joined by the Wrexham Council Recycling Team who were on hand to show students the correct way to recycle their household waste and give out recycling caddies and bags.

Think Green does Freshers Fair

Think Green came along to Freshers Fair with handy tips on reducing food waste and ran a competition to win a Huskup designed by our very own Olivia Horner.

They also challenged students to a blind sniff test… were you one of the 68 students who were brave enough to take on the challenge?

The day was a great success with over 1200 students in attendance, if you were one of the attendees we hope you had a great time and are already looking forward to the next one!

Think Green Prize Winner

For Fairtrade Fortnight, Think Green ran a competition to win a Hamper full of Fairtrade goodies, here’s our winner Chloe with their prize!
