Hi my name is Hafsa below is my manifesto for Vice President of the Students’ Union

As an international student, I understand the challenges of being away from home, including isolation, financial stress, and the pressures of academic life. If elected as Vice President, I will work to ensure that international students feel supported, valued, and fully integrated into the Wrexham University community.

 

Why Me?

 

My experience as a mentor with the MFL Project at Cardiff University and my leadership in the Living Lab Project on Sustainability have equipped me with the skills to address student needs effectively. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of the challenges students face and a commitment to creating positive change.

 

Key Goals

 

    1.    Supporting International Students

I will create targeted mentorship programs, peer support networks, and easy access to resources to ensure that international students feel welcomed and supported during their time at Wrexham University.

    2.    Mental Health & Well-Being

Mental health is crucial to student success. I will ensure that mental health services are easily accessible, promote open conversations about mental well-being, and organize wellness events that reduce stigma and provide support.

    3.    Sustainability Initiatives

I am committed to making Wrexham University a greener and more sustainable place. As Vice President, I will advocate for:

    •    Sustainable Campus Practices: Waste reduction, energy conservation, and sustainable food sourcing.

    •    Carbon Neutrality: Pushing for renewable energy sources and greener transportation options.

    •    Eco-Friendly Campaigns: Organizing sustainability events, such as climate action workshops and zero-waste challenges, to raise awareness and encourage action.

    4.    Promoting the Global Goals

I will champion Wrexham University’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:

    •    SDG 4: Quality Education – Ensuring all students have access to the academic resources they need to succeed.

    •    SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being – Promoting holistic student well-being, including mental, physical, and financial health.

    •    SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – Encouraging sustainable practices on campus.

    •    SDG 13: Climate Action – Expanding sustainability efforts to combat climate change.

    5.    Building Stronger Communities

I will collaborate with local charities, NGOs, and other student unions to provide more resources and support for students. These partnerships will help foster a sense of community and enable us to tackle challenges together.
